Island Outpost’s GoldenEye Hotel & Resort in Oracabessa on Jamaica’s north coast will reopen on Oct. 10, following a two-year closure.
Although GoldenEye had operated as an all-inclusive resort prior to the closure, it will not reopen as an all-inclusive resort.
"We will offer great dining experiences on property, but we also encourage our guests to walk into the town of Oracabessa to the market, the fish shops, the rum shops and the restaurants. We promote community tourism at GoldenEye, and we support this living, breathing village,” Simmonds said.
The renovated, 52-acre
property will have two new restaurants, a beach bar, new accommodations and a fitness and wellness program.
"In total, we will have 23 cottages with 11 new beach cottages, six new lagoon suites, the Fleming villa and the five other original villas," said Nick Simmonds, managing director.
GoldenEye was the original home of author Ian Fleming and the location where he penned all 14 James Bond novels.
Chris Blackwell, Jamaica-raised founder of Island Records and Island Outpost, purchased GoldenEye in 1976.
The property’s original design, which includes three beaches and a lagoon, has been preserved, according to Simmonds.
Opening rates will start at $560 per room, per night, double. For details, visit www.goldeneye.com.
