Hammons to build Okla. Embassy Suites, conference center

NORMAN, Okla. -- Hotel developer John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts announced plans to build a $50 million, 240-room Embassy Suite property and 65,000-square-foot conference center as part of University North Park, a 585-acre, mixed-use development here.

John Q. Hammons and city representatives unveiled the plans at a press conference Wednesday morning.

The city will own the $15 million conference center, which will be managed by John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts.

Plans call for construction on both the hotel and conference center to begin in March 2007.

John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts operates more than 60 U.S. hotel and resort properties.
