Harlequin Hotels to convert Barbados property

By Gay Nagle Myers
U.K.-based Harlequin Hotels & Resorts unveiled details of H Barbados, a hotel opening on the island's southwest coast in late fall 2013.

The opening will mark the debut of the H brand of luxury, boutique properties.

Harlequin operates the all-inclusive Buccament Bay Resort on St. Vincent, which opened in August 2011, and the Blu St. Lucia, which launched this past summer.

H Barbados, located on a Hastings Beach boardwalk in Christ Church, is a $5.5 million conversion of the former Allamanda Beach Hotel.

Facilities will include 69 guestrooms, five penthouses, four suites, the Mazu Restaurant & Bar, a café, the Alaia Spa, a fitness center, shops and a business center.
