Hospitality Properties Trust will rebrand 20 U.S. hotels in its portfolio under the Hawthorn Suites and Wyndham flags. Both brands are owned by Wyndham Hotel Group.
The 20 hotels are currently operating under InterContinental Hotels Group brands, but Hospitality Properties Trust did not provide a breakdown. IHG brands include Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites.
Of the 20 hotels, 16 will be reflagged under the Hawthorn badge, while the other four will be rebranded as Wyndhams. Three of the hotels are in Texas, three are in Illinois and three are in North Carolina.
Hospitality Properties Trust said it will spend $75 million upgrading and rebranding the 20 properties. Last July, the company said about a third of its 130 hotels with IHG brands would be sold or rebranded.
Hospitality Properties Trust owns about 300 hotels.
