La Quinta plans to open eight franchised properties in Central America in a deal with an affiliate of Grupo Santos, a Honduran-based real estate development company.

The agreements will bring La Quinta hotels to the Honduran cities of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, Comayagua, Choluteca and Roatan; Managua, Nicaragua; Panama City; and Guatemala City.

The first property will be in Tegucigalpa and will have more than 100 rooms. Construction begins this summer, with opening planned for early 2014.

La Quinta has additional agreements covering cities in eight countries in North America and Latin America.

In 2012 the hotel company announced an agreement for the development of hotels in Colombia and plans to add new hotels in Mexico before the end of the year.
