A Le Meridien hotel is scheduled to open adjacent to the Oakbrook Center shopping mall, about 18 miles from downtown Chicago, in January 2014.

Le Meridien Chicago-Oakbrook Center will occupy a 10-story building that was home to a Renaissance hotel that closed in 2011. The property is undergoing a $20 million renovation.

The 172-room hotel will have a new facade, a ninth-floor restaurant and a rooftop terrace.

Minneapolis-based Wischermann Partners will manage the hotel. Wischermann manages several hotels flagged with Starwood Hotels & Resorts brands, including W Minneapolis-The Foshay, Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown and Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter (due to open this winter).
