Shanghai's Twelve at Hengshan hotel will become the newest member of Starwood Hotels & Resorts' Luxury Collection, and the second in Shanghai, when it opens in November.
The 171-room hotel, located in Shangai's Hengshan Road district, includes a 3,500-square-foot Presidential Suite as well as a 7,500-square-foot spa and three restaurants and lounges.
The hotel will feature an "East meets West" sensibility with Italian tiles on its facade and a traditional Chinese "secret garden" inside. The property is being designed by Italian architect Mario Botta, who also designed San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art.
Starwood's Luxury Collection includes more than 75 hotels worldwide. Twelve at Hengshan will be China's fourth and Shangai's second -- after the 328-room Hongta Hotel -- within the collection. Follow Danny King on Twitter @dktravelweekly.
