Construction has started on New York City’s first SpringHill Suites hotel, which is due to open next year in midtown Manhattan.
The 19-story hotel will be in the Herald Square area on West 37th Street between 5th and 6th avenues. The hotel will have 137 guestrooms and offer complimentary breakfast.
Marriott International, owner of the SpringHill Suites brand, continues to expand its portfolio of midscale hotels in New York.
Last year, the company reached an agreement for a 378-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 261-room Residence Inn to be developed in what will be New York’s tallest hotel-only building at 54th Street and Broadway. That property is scheduled to open in late 2013.
