A Dubai-based company plans to open Paramount Pictures-branded hotels, Bloomberg reported.

The company, Paramount Hotels & Resorts, reached a licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures parent Viacom.

Paramount Hotels CEO Thomas Van Vliet, a former Accor executive, said the company is in discussions to open hotels in Brazil, the U.K., the Caribbean, Russia, Qatar, Oman, South Africa and Indonesia, though Van Vliet didn’t disclose where and when the first hotel would open, Bloomberg reported.

Viacom didn’t respond to a request for comment from Travel Weekly.

The concept of Hollywood-themed hotels and restaurants isn’t a new one, and has been most actively used by the Planet Hollywood brand of restaurants. The Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino opened at the old Aladdin site on the Las Vegas Strip in 2007 and is owned by Caesars Entertainment.

Wyndham Worldwide last year reached an agreement to manage three Planet Hollywood hotels in China, Qatar and Panama, though none of those properties has opened.

Paramount Hotels isn’t affiliated with New York's Paramount Hotel in Times Square or with the Paramount Hotels group of three boutique hotels in Maui, Seattle and Portland, Ore.
