Renovations finished at Sir Francis Drake Hotel

By Danny King
SirFrancisDrake-entranceSan Francisco’s iconic Sir Francis Drake Hotel has completed the renovation of its 416 rooms and lobby, and has reopened Harry Denton’s Starlight Room lounge on the hotel’s 21st floor.

The renovation took more than three years to complete and cost about $30 million, according to Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, which manages the hotel.

The hotel, which sits at the foot of San Francisco’s Nob Hill near Union Square, opened in 1928 and is known by both locals and tourists for its Beefeater-suited doormen situated at the hotel’s Powell Street entrance.
