Sandals Resorts International will terminate its lease with the owners of Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril, Jamaica. Sandals will operate the resort through Aug. 31.
The all-inclusive resort, one of three Beaches on Jamaica, has been in the Sandals portfolio for 12 years.
"Despite the successes of Sandy Bay, the resort no longer fits the long-term strategy and vision of our organization. We will look to pursue other exciting opportunities elsewhere," Sandals said in a statement.
Guests scheduled to stay at Beaches Sandy Bay after Aug. 31 may switch their booking without penalty to the Beaches Negril on Jamaica's west coast or the Beaches Boscobel on the north coast near Ocho Rios.
The resort will close for the month of September, said property owner Poincianna Resorts. Poincianna plans to assume hotel operations when the resort reopens.
