Sonesta will have its first Pennsylvania hotel under management when it reflags the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown in June.
Sonesta will take over a 445-room hotel located on Market Street, about three blocks west of City Hall and four blocks north of Rittenhouse Square. The property was built in 1971 and has about 16,000 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel will be the third on the Eastern seaboard for Sonesta, which also operates properties in Baltimore and Boston.
Sonesta, which operates 27 hotels and seven cruise ships worldwide, was acquired in January by Massachusetts-based Hospitality Properties Trust for about $175 million in stock and assumed debt.
Hospitality Properties Trust owns almost 300 hotels across the U.S.
