Starwood returning to Costa Rica in 2011 with Westin Playa Conchal

The 406-room Westin Playa Conchal Resort & Spa is set to open in May in Cabo Velas, Costa Rica, marking Starwood Hotels & Resorts return to the country after a 20-year gap.

Under a management agreement with Desarrollos Hoteleros Guanacaste, a fully owned subsidiary of Reserva Conchal, Starwood will reflag the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort as a Westin.

The property, located about 45 minutes northwest of Guanacaste Airport, will undergo extensive renovations to its guestrooms and all public areas as part of the reflagging.
