Travelocity cutbacks include closing N.Y., San Francisco offices

By Johanna Jainchill
Travelocity is reducing its workforce and closing its satellite offices in San Francisco and New York.

Joel Frey, a spokesman for the online travel agency, said that Travelocity "made some changes to our organizational structure to drive speed and efficiency. Unfortunately, as part of this, we've had to make some tough decisions to reduce costs, including reducing our workforce."

Frey did not specify how many positions were being eliminated but said "it is a small percentage of our global workforce."

Travelocity is closing its satellite offices, Frey said, in order to "bring more of our team together under one roof in our Dallas headquarters to improve collaboration."

He said that employees in positions that need to be in San Francisco and New York will become home-based, while other positions will move to Dallas.
