Apple Leisure Group has appointed Javier Coll to serve as executive vice president and chief strategy officer.

Coll was appointed to expand Apple’s hotel management, marketing and sales, destination management, and tour operations divisions through an “aggressive acquisition, development and partnership strategy,” Apple said.

Coll previously served as chief financial officer of AMResorts, Apple’s resort division, and prior to that he was chief operating officer for AMResorts.

“Apple Leisure Group is positioned to actively pursue new opportunities in the U.S., Caribbean, Latin America and South America markets, and Javier will leverage his extensive relationships to elevate Apple Leisure Group’s profile,” Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group, said in a statement.

Coll’s appointment comes several weeks after Apple Leisure Group announced plans to acquire American Express Travel Related Services Co.’s tour operation, including Travel Impressions. The deal is expected to close by the end of next month.

Apple Leisure Group owns Apple Vacations, a vacation wholesaler; AMResorts, which provide sales, marketing and brand management services for six resort brands; Amstar DMC, a destination management company; and Unlimited Vacation Club, a vacation membership program.
