MLT Vacations, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, officially opened its new headquarters in Atlanta on Tuesday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Delta CEO Richard Anderson.
MLT was previously based in Edina, Minn., and announced the Atlanta move last summer.
The move to Atlanta follows other changes at MLT to bring the company closer to its parent, Delta. John Caldwell, formerly Delta’s managing director of national account sales and specialty sales, came on as president last year, replacing longtime MLT executives Larry Chestler and Ken Pomerantz.
In January, MLT announced that it would discontinue its partnership with United Vacations at the end of 2013.
“MLT Vacations is an important component of Delta’s business, and with its headquarters now in Atlanta they're better positioned to take advantage of shared corporate resources and work more closely with Delta to pursue new partnership opportunities,” Anderson said in a statement.
Caldwell added that “relocating to Atlanta means we can align more closely with Delta.”
MLT Vacations has more than 500 employees. In addition to its Atlanta headquarters, MLT operates a reservations and support center in Minot, N.D., maintains limited support-services staff in Minneapolis, and has sales and product-development staff throughout the U.S.
