Executive search firm lets clients name their own price

Cruise sellers aren't the only ones dishing out unique promotions this month.

P. Jason King Associates, a travel executive search firm, unveiled an unusual promotion for its 40th anniversary: For the remainder of 2012, potential clients can name their own price for the company's recruitment and consultation services.

The program is being offered by P. Jason King Associates's two divisions: executive/management recruitment as well as management consulting, marketing, advertising and website development.

According to P. Jason King, the company's founder and CEO, clients can save up to 90% off the company's normal fees.

Despite the promotion's name, King said offers have to be "realistic," and that he is not entertaining "ridiculous" amounts.

"If they are realistic, we are going to take it," said King.

Some of the offers King said he has already accepted are $1,000 to rebuild a website (the usual fee would have exceeded $7,000); $17,500 for a recruitment service (the standard fee was $46,000); and two hours of free consultation.

The standard fee for job-placement services is 40% of the client's total compensation for a management position and 40% of base salary for non-management.

King, who founded the agency in 1972, said the promotion is meant to last throughout 2012 and was created to help an industry that has been battered by the economy. He said the company is growing, and that the promotion is not in reaction to any softening of business.

"We’re strong," he said. "I feel it's time to show what we can do and how we can help people in their time of need."

Existing customers paying regular rates can name their own price for their next order, King said, and those under annual contract will be able to renew under the promotion.
