Educational workshops and a talk by Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis will be among the highlights of the National Association of Career Travel Agents’ (Nacta) annual convention in September.
Nacta, the ASTA-owned trade association dedicated to independent agents, has scheduled this year's convention for Sept. 19 to 22 in Fort Lauderdale, immediately following ASTA's Global Convention Sept. 17 to 19 in Miami.
Nacta is offering a dual convention rate of $399 for members, which includes admission to both events and motorcoach transfer from Miami to Fort Lauderdale. For the Nacta convention alone, the rate is $199 for members, $299 for nonmembers (which includes one-year Nacta membership).
The talk by Louganis, scheduled to take place during a gala dinner, will focus on his diving experience in the Olympics. Louganis, a two-time Olympics gold medal winner, is a motivational speaker today.
Others who will speak at the convention include Peter Kerr, president of Kerr Communications, a longtime public relations professional who will discuss negotiations and public relations. Kerr is scheduled to conduct two 75-minute workshops.
“Attendees will find his workshops engaging and come away with skills to boost their business and leverage relationships,” Ann van Leeuwen, Nacta vice president, said in a statement.
Other presentations will feature discussions on social media, sales and motivation, marketing and business productivity.
Other speakers in the lineup thus far include Chris Austin, Starwood Hotels & Resorts' vice president of global customer partnerships for leisure and luxury sales, and Dondra Ritzenthaler, Celebrity Cruises' senior vice president of sales.
