Promotion Consideration, a company that arranges prizes for TV game shows, may join other petitioners in the pending involuntary bankruptcy case against Joystar.
The Burbank, Calif.-based company could add a six-figure claim to the petitions on file with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Promotion Consideration commissioned the travel company to provide trips for winners on the Wheel of Fortune game show in exchange for TV advertising, said company president Dan Fox. According to an August 2007 press release, that deal was made with a Joystar sister division, VacationCompare.com. Travelstar is the parent company to both.
Fox said Travelstar failed to deliver the prizes, and that his company had to buy the trips.
In their petition seeking Joystar’s liquidation under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy law, Joystar creditors provided a list of other names used by Joystar, including Travelstar.
In the court action, 34 travel agents are claiming more than $227,000 in unpaid commissions, and that figure is expected to rise early next week when more agents file claims.
