Agent Issues Travelport improves hotel booking for agents By Jamie Biesiada / July 14, 2017 Share 1 -- Travelport has introduced a product enabling agents to get seamless access to hotel details and amenities, plus a mapping tool. The product, Hotel Retail, is integrated into Travelport’s platform for Smartpoint-connected agencies. Smartpoint is Travelport’s desktop point-of-sale solution.Travelport called Hotel Retail "a real timesaver for agents" because they will no longer need to rely on other tools and sources outside their workflow to locate the best hotel for their clients."Bookers demand access to a broader range of travel content and instant, detailed information about travel products at the point of booking," Travelport said in a statement. "Hotel Retail allows agents to stay within their workflow by delivering everything they need in one place."Agents will see what Travelport described as a "content-rich graphical interface" that displays amenities and details and integrates mapping capabilities so agents can create a search from a pin drop. Initially, Hotel Retail will be available this month for Travelport's Apollo users. Worldspan users in the U.S. and Canada are expected to have access to the tool in the fourth quarter. Over the next six months, Hotel Retail's rollout will expand to additional countries.
