U.K. carrier launches agent site

British airline bmi has launched a U.S. travel agent website, and is paying 5% commission on published fares on all bmi and bmi codeshare flights through the end of December.

The carrier also is offering prizes. The top prize will be a trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg, including a 13-day river cruise between the two cities with Viking River Cruises.

Agents are entered in the contest based on number of bmi seats sold and registered for travel from the U.S. to Manchester or London and beyond. They are also entered if they play an interactive game at the website.

Two economy roundtrip tickets to London will be awarded to the first five U.S. agents who register a ticket from the U.S. on bmi or its codeshare flights to London and beyond.

The new website is designed to answer questions about ticketing, rules, procedures, refunds, cabin service and in-flight entertainment. It also provides a virtual tour of the business-class section of the Airbus 330, which can be shared with clients who may be planning to fly the carrier from Chicago or Las Vegas to Manchester.
