Technology Liftopia launches multi-resort app By Johanna Jainchill / December 16, 2011 Share 1 -- Liftopia.com, an online marketplace for discounted ski lift tickets and mountain activities, this week launched what it is calling the first multi-resort, location-based app for skiers and snowboarders to buy deals on lift tickets in advance. The app also provides the latest ski and snow conditions and weather reports at ski areas worldwide, as well as details about resorts such as photos and the number of runs for each ability level. Liftopia currently offers more than 75,000 deals at more than 150 ski areas, with prices the company says are up to 80% off ticket window prices. Available now for the iPhone and iPod touch, the Liftopia Ski Reports, Snow Conditions and Ultimate Lift Ticket Deal Engine App allows users to instantly view nearby lift ticket prices, based on their current location, in order to compare local mountain deals. Users can also browse for deals in various regions or search for deals by date. In addition, Liftopia said that users can access their entire purchase history via the app, instead of having to print and carry vouchers to the resort; customers just show their Liftopia receipt at the ticket window to get their pass. "At Liftopia our goal is to help skiers and snowboarders spend more time on the mountain at the best prices and less time planning their trip," said Evan Reece, CEO and co-founder of Liftopia, in a statement. Liftopia's current partners on the app include Aspen/Snowmass in Colorado; Park City, Utah; Mount Snow, Vt.; Sun Valley, Idaho; and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows in Calif.
