Travelport inks deal with GDS vendor in China

Travelport has agreed to make its Galileo GDS available to users of the TravelSky distribution system in China.

Under the terms of the agreement, TravelSky will implement Travelport’s Reservation Sales Solution (RSS), enabling TravelSky customers to access, make reservations and issue e-tickets on global airlines in real-time via the Galileo system.

Travelport said 6,500 travel agents use the TravelSky system in China.

The first phase of the implementation, which took place in May, enabled more than 200 Galileo-linked airlines to issue interline e-tickets with Chinese airlines for which TravelSky provides reservations systems.

Travelport said RSS is a “practical solution” for airlines that wish to establish interline agreements with other carriers because RSS connections can be done rapidly and at a fraction of the cost of establishing individual links with carriers.

The second phase of the project, travel agent connectivity, is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
