Carnival Cruise Lines confirmed this morning that it has put host agency Joystar on a do-not-book status, effective Jan. 7. 

Joystar contractors can move future bookings, if they have not been paid in full, to another agency “upon written authorization of the traveler,” the cruise line advised agents. In cases where full payment has been made, Joystar has already collected the commission.

Carnival sources said they could not disclose the status of any override payments that might be due to Joystar.

Rumors had circulated for a few weeks that the cruise line was considering cutting off Joystar due to its failure to pay commissions to independent contractors.
