The 293-room Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall in Jamaica is set to open on Jan. 16 after two earlier postponements.
The resort is the newest addition to Iberostar's Grand Collection, a luxury brand launched in 2007 with the opening of the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso on Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall is the final component of Iberostar’s three-property, all-inclusive beachfront complex in the Rose Hall section of Montego Bay. The first to open was the 366-room Iberostar Rose Hall Beach in May 2007, followed by the 273-room Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in October.
The three resorts, although adjacent to one another, target different markets at different price levels.
The Grand is an adults-only, upscale resort with large suites and butler and concierge services. The Suites features family-friendly activities and a kids club. The Beach is similar to the Suites with some restrictions on the hours of room service. The accommodations are a mix of suites and standard rooms.
Guests at the Grand can use the facilities at the two other resorts. Guests staying at the Suites can use the facilities at the Beach, while Beach guests have the activities and facilities of that one resort.
Iberostar has 21 hotels in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba, and a total of 110 hotels in 15 countries.
The Spanish hotel company plans to add 100 hotels to its portfolio by 2012, according to John Long, senior vice president of sales and marketing. A new destination in the Caribbean could be Aruba, according to Long.
Iberostar said the company will add a booking engine for travel agents to its redesigned website in March.
