Condo Hotels Playa del Carmen, founded by real estate developer Jack Perlman, is adding El Taj Oceanfront, scheduled for a grand opening the first week of January.

The property was designed by Mexican architect Sergio Segura, who incorporated Balinese elements that combine soft curves, natural materials and tropical landscaping with soothing water features.

There will be two upscale restaurants; a scuba shop; a New York-style, gourmet deli; and a spa.

The one- to three-bedroom condos, available for sale and vacation rental, will feature marble countertops in kitchens and bathrooms; private terraces; elevators that serve only two units apiece; hurricane-resistant windows; Jacuzzis; and private, rooftop showers.
