Cox & Kings invites clients to tee off at 14,500 feet

November 25, 2009

Tour operator Cox & Kings introduced a four-night tour called Nepal: A Golfer's High, offering golf enthusiasts a chance to play two holes of golf at 14,500 feet in the Everest region, with Mount Everest serving as a backdrop.

Transfers are by helicopter from Kathmandu, and accompanying guests on the private flight is a Mount Everest summiteer, who will point out the surrounding mountaintops and provide insight into the traditions and challenges of conquering the inhospitable peaks.

Guests will also have the opportunity to play 17 holes at the golf course located in the former royal family's hunting reserve, surrounded by the Himalayas. Prior to the game, local monks will hold a "blessing of the golf clubs" ceremony.

The tour also features explorations of the Kathmandu Valley including the Durbar Square, the ancient temple complex of Bodinath and the medieval town of Bhaktapur. Also among the highlights are the Patan Museum, Nyatapola Temple, the Palace of 55 Windows with its famous Barking Bell, and the Golden Gate, considered by many to be the most beautiful and richly molded gate of its kind in Asia.

The journey is priced from $9,570 per person, double occupancy, including full board. The golf program can be added to a longer Cox & Kings Travel Journey to India or Bhutan.
