Luxury hospitality update: New suites, extra pay, private bungalows

November 25, 2009

Hotel news in the luxury sector is always hopping. Here's a sampling of noteworthy products for upmarket agents.

Life just got "suite-er" at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, where newly redesigned one- and two-bedroom Superior Suites come with their own rewards. The 343-room hotel is located in the 66-story skyscraper at 900 N. Michigan Ave. Its Suite Rewards package includes a one-night stay in one of the hotel's one- or two-bedroom suites, a gift card of $100 per night to the 900 Shops, free daily parking and Midwest breakfast for two daily.

Package rates in December range from $445 per night for a deluxe room to $725 for a one-bedroom suite. Its 39 suites offer views of Chicago's skyline and Lake Michigan, and many of them have separate dressing areas and butler's pantries. The hotel features an 8,000-square-foot spa features eucalyptus steam rooms and an indoor pool. Agents can check out the offering at www.fourseasons.com.

Cheeca Lodge & Spa, in Islamorada, Fla., is paying 12% commission in January to celebrate its reopening in mid-December. Set on 27 private oceanfront acres, the Florida Keys resort will debut 62 Premier suites, with 24-foot-wide balconies, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and open-air round spa tubs.

An expanded roster of activities will include on-property flats boats with local guides for backcountry fishing, sightseeing, eco-tours, kiteboarding and a junior angler program for teens. The resort has a saltwater snorkeling lagoon, nature trails and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. In January, room rates start at $319 per night. Get more details at www.cheeca.com.

The Beverly Hills Hotel, a member of the Dorchester Collection, is expanding its bungalow accommodations. Two bungalows are being built on the site of the property's tennis courts, bringing to 23 the number of units that provide "the ultimate in privacy."

The new bungalows are slated to be completed in fall 2010. Each new bungalow will be 3,500 square feet, including three bedrooms, a great room/dining room with full kitchen and a study. Glass walls and French doors will lead to each bungalow's private pool and outdoor courtyard, dining and living areas. The hotel's website, for information and reservations, is www.beverlyhillshotel.com.
