The Norwegian Dawn's five-day western Caribbean cruise that was supposed to depart Miami on Sunday was canceled to fix a problem with the ship's power.

Norwegian Cruise Line is offering a full refund to all customers and a 50% credit on a future cruise.

A power outage on the Dawn occurred en route to Miami on Friday, approximately 95 miles off the coast of San Juan.

When the power went out, the Dawn was on a nine-day southern Caribbean cruise that departed Miami on Nov. 20.

Limited power was restored, but NCL said it decided to cut the cruise short and reroute the ship to San Juan "for the comfort of our guests."

Passengers were assisted with travel arrangements from San Juan to Miami via charted flights and were accommodated in Miami hotels, NCL said.

NCL said passengers on the shortened cruise would get a 75% refund on the paid cruise fare plus a 50% credit on a future cruise that must be taken by Dec. 31, 2010.

NCL said the problem has been fixed, and that the Dawn's nine-day cruise departing Miami on Dec. 4 will sail as scheduled.
