Obama orders security review

TSA eases in-flight restrictions

According to those familiar with TSA screening procedures, the agency has eased new restrictions implemented on international flights to the U.S.

Passengers can, at the captain’s discretion, get up from their seats and have items on their laps during the last hour of a flight.

President Obama interrupted his vacation Monday in Hawaii to address the botched bombing attempt aboard a Northwest jet just before landing in Detroit.

Obama said he ordered enhanced screening and security measures – including adding new air marshals on international flights – to better provide immediate protection.

To address long-term concerns, Obama said he ordered a review of the country’s passenger watch list system to see how it could be strengthened.

He also wants a review of technology needed to prevent another passenger from getting aboard a plane with explosive materials.

Interrupted his vacation? What about the passengers on the flight!? They're fortunate their vacation wasn't interrupted permanently! UHM MONDAY? Where was he from Friday to Monday? The incident happened Friday? Was he too busy vacationing instead of doing his job? Maybe he doesn't realize being President there is NO time totally off!! He odviousdly hasn't done his homework or any studying of this odvious TERRORIST situation. Don't blame others as they say the company is only as good as it's LEADER!

Instead of air marshals...what about having a trained dog on board that can detect such things. Or even having a dog present at each gate when passengers are boarding a plane to sniff for explosives etc. The dog would have to walk through the plane isles in flight checking up on people.:)

Obama had better be glad that it was a botched attempt. The "system" has let the American public and the international travellers down. No one was minding the embassy that knew about this terrorist, Washington has let their guard down, thinking that it won't happen again, and the international security system is a joke! When will this country and the world wakeup to the fact this group of people are TERRORISTS? They are on the move and gathering moss as they roll on. One day there will be more of them, than the good guys. El Al airlines has the right idea, and the other world airlines should follow their concept. Upon landing, this guy better be glad that the aircraft door wasn't opened and his lousy butt thrown out on the tarmack. Again, the traveling public took the matter in their own hands and saved what could have been a disaster! God bless them!
