Marriott to begin phase-out of adult content

Adult movies. Mature content. Porn. Whatever you want to call it, you soon may not find it on the television at a Marriott hotel.

After years of discussion and protests from some quarters over in-room pornography movies, Marriott has apparently decided to pull the plug on pay-per-view porn.

USA Today’s Hotel Check-In blog reports that adult content will be "off the menu" in Marriott’s new hotels and will eventually be phased out company-wide.

Marriott told Check-In reporter Barb De Lollis that decision coincides with a pending shift to new, in-room entertainment technology and a decrease in movie revenue as guests increasingly carry their own entertainment.

Jets fans welcome in (at least one) Boston hotel

Many New England Patriots fans have not gotten past the playoff defeat to their hated rivals, the New York Jets.
But the Liberty Hotel in Boston has.

The luxury hotel introduced a "Go and Gloat Weekend" package for Jets fans, inviting them to "bask in their recent Patriot pillaging." The overnight package starts at $310 and includes breakfast for two.

The 300-room Liberty Hotel, located in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, is housed in a building that used to be a jail. Playing on that theme, the hotel said this:

"Be warned, if you check into this former-jail-turned hotel and flaunt your Jets jersey, the die-hard Pats patrons may put you behind bars."

  • Consumer media discover that travel agents do exist

"Contrary to some thoughts, travel agents do exist ... We are usually able to get clients better prices, and we know we can see that clients have better experiences. And as our personal motto is: Our Service Travels With You."
