Colorado airport has drop box for pot

Pot smokers departing Colorado Springs' airport who need to ditch their stash before boarding now can deposit the goods in an "amnesty box" set up by airport authorities on Jan. 15, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Pot smokers are banned from carrying weed on board, based on federal aviation regulations that say it's illegal to operate a civil aircraft if there's known marijuana onboard.

Colorado legalized recreational marijuana use on Jan. 1, but federal regulations ban it at airports and on planes.

If found during TSA screenings, the agents will call the cops. Pot smokers caught trying to conceal the cannabis before flying are subject to a $2,500 fine or jail time.

Colorado Springs airport officials don't want pot smokers to dump the stash in the trash. "Then you have other people digging through the garbage," according to news reports.

Denver's airport has a zero-tolerance pot policy. For now, users have to hand it over at the airport or light up before entering.

Cold jokes

It's so cold that ... what?

The Internet was awash this week in weather-related jokes.

Polar vortex, a new buzzword, sparked a question from a blogger who asked if it was a porno lesbian film.

Others answered the "How cold is it?" question with the following punchlines:

"Lawyers have their hands in their own pockets."

"You're thankful for hot flashes."

"Donald Trump's hair freezes in place."

"I saw a Greyhound bus and the dog was riding on the inside."

"You heat up the milk for your Cheerios."

"I saw a snowman with a hoodie on."

"Apple is introducing the iParka."

"I saw a squirrel buying a can of Sterno."

"Even members of Congress couldn't get into a heated argument."

And from Jay Leno, "It is so cold that I saw an Amish guy buying an electric blanket."

An Eagles view

LAForum-EaglesThe Eagles are christening the reopened Forum in Inglewood, Calif., with six concerts scheduled there this month, and the venue has commemorated the events by putting a massive facsimile of the rock group’s 1976 “Hotel California” record on the building’s roof.

It measures 407 feet in diameter. And yes, the “record” spins.

The Forum sits below the flight path for Los Angeles International Airport, so inbound airline passengers will get a view of it.
