Disney to renovate rooms for princesses

 Permanent link

Walt Disney World is renovating some of its hotel rooms with "princess" themes -- though we suspect that there won't be any peas hiding under the mattresses.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Disney plans to convert some of its 25,000 hotel rooms into moderately priced, princess-themed rooms, and high-end "health and wellness suites." The company expects the themed rooms to deliver higher rates than standard rooms.

The thematic idea, the Sentinel reports, is that the rooms will be "billed as rooms that the princesses themselves have stayed in during vacations." (And when Disney says "princess," it means Princess-with-a-capital-P: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella,Tiana, Jasmine and others.)
Disney will renovate about 500 rooms in the Riverside section of the Port Orleans Resort by February or March  into "Royal Rooms," with touches like bathroom faucets in the shape of Aladdin's genie lamp.
Meanwhile, 23 rooms at the Contemporary Resort will get a health-and-wellness theme, with amenities like a yoga studio and concierge services on that floor.
