Michael Valkevich, a senior account manager with Amadeus North America, says that if he's spending over $1,500 on a personal trip, he wouldn't think of booking it on his own.
In a blog on FastCompany.com, Valkevich said every trip he ever booked was purchased online until a few years ago (he's a young guy), when a co-worker recommended a travel agent.
He said he'll never go back to online booking for personal travel costing more than $1,500 of his own money "because it's worth it to be taken care of by professionals."
He also said, "Websites that feature travel bookings don't deliver on the most basic expectation of a travel buyer: offering the best options based on price, schedule and preferred vendor."
Of course, it's in Valkevich's interests to say nice things about travel agents, as he works for a GDS company.
