Bringing back 'Pan Am'

Pan Am may be making a comeback: As the setting for a fictionalized TV show.

CNN reports that a pilot (no pun intended) has been ordered by ABC for a drama series called "Pan Am." The show is apparently based on the real-life experiences of Nancy Hult Ganis, a former Pan Am flight attendant and the executive producer of the show.

The CNN report said that "Pan Am," which takes place during the airline's 1960s heyday, is already drawing parallels to the current yardstick of midcentury culture -- that is, AMC's "Mad Men" -- but Ganis called her show "the anti-'Mad Men."

What do you think? Is the mystique of Pan Am and the glories of midcentury airline travel enough of a draw to get you to tune in?

This show will have a special attraction to old-timers who recall the great services that line provided besides being the US Flag Carrier overseas.

As a former employee, sounds like a great trip.
Did you hear about the stew who got too many drinks one night in Lagos on a lay-over and covered herself in paint and then repainted the crew lounge at the airport--that is what you call "a real body paint job!"

That was when flying was fun and a pleasure. It was a time that the airlines cared and took pride in what they did...plus the fare was the fare and you ate off of REAL plates. Passengers dressed to fly..NO FLIP FLOPS!

LOVE IT!!! I am a BIG fan of the glory days of PanAm. I flew Flight #1 and #2 several times in the early '70s on various segments of that round the world trip and can't wait to see how they depict that time. I sure hope this comes out soon.
