Why pay to freeze in a Super Bowl seat?

Super Bowl XLVIII in New Jersey will be the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a cold-weather destination.

Travel agents, why not suggest that football fans head south to sea, sun and sand instead of spending thousands of dollars to shiver on a cold stadium seat?

Smugglers Cove Resort & Spa in St. Lucia is offering its fourth annual "Big Game Weekend" package, enabling fans to watch the game poolside on super-sized screens in the company of NFL alumni, such as former Giants running back Billy Taylor.

The package includes an "Ask the Pro" session, autographs, a football game on the beach, kayaking, archery and beach volleyball.

Prices for the football weekend start at $755 per person, double, for a four-night package Jan. 30-Feb. 3, not including air. Bookings must be made by Jan. 25; specify "Big Game" when booking.

  • Consumer media discover that travel agents do exist

"Contrary to some thoughts, travel agents do exist ... We are usually able to get clients better prices, and we know we can see that clients have better experiences. And as our personal motto is: Our Service Travels With You."
