Passengers on the new Costa Pacifica can leave the ship with a unique item -- a professionally recorded soundtrack of themselves.

During a preview cruise from the Italian seaport of Savona, Costa unveiled the industry's first onboard recording studio for passengers.

The studio is staffed by a professional sound engineer who uses high-tech equipment that is supposed to make even the least talented crooner sound good.

A component of the Costa Pacifica's music theme, the recording studio is tucked into the back of the ship’s main theater.

For about $50 per hour (35 euros), passengers can record up to three songs per time slot. At the end the cruise, they take home a CD of their professionally produced tracks.

"My clients will love this," said one travel agent. "It’s one of those things that people like because it makes them feel famous."
