Morgans Hotel Group agreed to take over management of the beachfront Hotel Las Palapas in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, on Dec. 15.

Morgans said the hotel’s owner, Walton Street Capital, plans to convert the 75-room property to a Morgans-branded hotel "when economic conditions improve."
