    Travel Weekly held its annual Readers Choice Awards banquet at New York’s Plaza Hotel in December. Virgin Atlantic picked up the plaque for best International carrier for the sixth straight year.     AlSol Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic hosted Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz's sixth annual Celebrity Golf Classic at the Punta Espada Golf Course in December. The event supported pediatric critical care in New England the Dominican Republic.     John Lynch, Jamaica’s director of tourism, welcomes Craig Greiner, fourth from left, Jamaica's 2 millionth visitor to visit the island in 2013, and his wife Alexis, third from left, upon their arrival at Sangster Airport on Dec. 23.     The Corinthia Group celebrated its 51st anniversary with a dinner and awards presentation at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in San Anton, Malta. The event was hosted by Corinthia Group founder and Chairman Alfred Pisani, front row, center, and featured award presentations to members of the Corinthia Malta staff with from five to 40 years of uninterrupted service and to 15 Employees of the Year from the company’s hotels and other subsidiaries.     George Markantonis, center, was named the Caribbean Hotelier of the Year by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association at its annual Travel Markeplace in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Markantonis, who is the president and managing director of Kerzner International Bahamas and the president and managing director at Atlantis Paradise Island, is joined at the presentation by Jeff Vasser, left, the new director general and CEO of the CHTA, and Peter Yesawich, vice chair of travel marketing firm MMGY Global.
