The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage in Palm Springs, Calif., sits 650 feet above the Coachella Valley desert floor. The property originally opened under Marriott International's Ritz-Carlton badge in 1988 before being reflagged as the Lodge at Rancho Mirage in 2001. The hotel was closed five years later to undergo what was to be a 14-month renovation project to bring it back up to Ritz-Carlton standards. Eight years later, the property finally made its second debut for Ritz-Carlton on May 15.
