Hurtigruten provides authentic and immersive expedition experiences for travelers seeking to connect with their inner explorer.
The Hurtigruten Difference
With 125 years of experience sailing polar waters, combined with the greenest and most modern expedition cruise fleet on the planet, Hurtigruten offers unparalleled experiences in the most remote corners of the world including Antarctica, Alaska, Eastern Canada and Northwest Passage, Greenland, Franz Josef Land, Iceland, Norway, and Svalbard.
Hurtigruten is an expedition company in the truest sense of the word. Our mission is to bring adventurers to remote natural beauty around the world. Our experience in the field is unparalleled, and we draw on our unique 125-year heritage to guide our fleet of advanced expedition ships to unforgettable wilderness destinations in some of the most spectacular places on Earth.
Our captains and crew will seize the day when opportunities arise. They are experts at navigating in challenging conditions, with years of experience and vast knowledge of—and consideration for—the environment.
Our expedition team members are adventurers who thrive in the wilderness, and are dedicated to creating a relaxed and educational atmosphere as your hosts on board. They have expertise in history, geology, marine biology, oceanography, Arctic survival, ornithology, photography, and more.
With the most expertise in polar landings, Hurtigruten’s nimble fleet and deep polar experience allow us to make landings in the most spectacular and difficult-to-reach places. Our custom-built landing crafts expedite the process for going ashore, and while other expedition ships have top-deck deployment for small explorer boats, we use our lower decks.
Commitment to Sustainability
As world leader in exploration travel, Hurtigruten has a great responsibility, which is incorporated into our mission to provide safe, unique, active, and sustainable travel experiences that create lifelong memories. And, to make sure the guests of tomorrow have the same travel experiences as the guests of today, we are working hard to minimize the impact of our operations and promote sustainable innovation in the destinations we visit.
The Future of Expedition Cruising
With spectacular design and cutting-edge technology, our fleet features the world’s first hybrid electric–powered expedition cruise ships: MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen. These state-of-the-art sister ships, named after great polar heroes, will revolutionize how we explore, offering our guests premium-quality adventure travel experiences.
