The Justice Department sued Northwest and Continental, charging
that the former's acquiring a controlling interest in the latter is
in violation of antitrust laws. Ah, the leaves are turning, the air
is getting brisk, and someone's accusing airlines of antitrust
violations -- it must be autumn.
Galileo's new product, FocalpointNet (FocalpointNet,
FocalpointNet -- say it 10 times fast), will give Galileo and
Apollo agents full CRS capabilities through an Internet connection,
letting them toggle between the CRS and the Web; set up a
workstation with no additional wiring other than a standard modem
connection, and potentially lower communications costs. When
queried about this innovation, Dinah Saur of Stone Age Travel said
"Bah! If I want Windows, I'll go to Home Depot."
A study by an Illinois-based research firm found that Internet
users' lifestyles and buying habits aren't profoundly different
from those of the general consumer base. This, of course, flies in
the face of the conventional wisdom, which holds that Internet
users are just like regular people, but with a more refined taste
for recreational air-fare shopping and pornography.
