At its Go for the Gold annual conference, America's Vacation Center awarded its top-performing independent affiliates based on sales and outstanding customer service.

The host agency's co-president, Brad Anderson, said honors were bestowed in three categories -- Best of the Best, Rising Stars and Top 10 -- for each of its preferred suppliers.

The conference, in late 2009, was held in Fort Lauderdale. Part of it was land-based, and attendees also sailed on Royal Caribbean International's new Oasis of the Seas.

"Our 2009 national conference was an opportunity for our elite network of independent affiliates to meet in person, share success stories, network one-on-one with the leading visionaries of the travel industry and experience an incredible milestone in cruising: the Oasis of the Seas," said Anderson.

"Everyone left energized, optimistic, and motivated for a successful 2010," he said. "We look forward to what the new year has in store for the entire industry."

The conference agenda included an array of activities such as training and networking events, in addition to a preferred supplier trade show and the awards dinner.

America's Vacation Center (www.joinavc.com), No. 49 on Travel Weekly's 2009 Power List, is an American Express Travel Representative. Preferred suppliers include American Express Vacations, Brendan Vacations, Carnival Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Holland America, Insight Vacations, Trafalgar Tours and Uniworld.
