The moms may not like it, but Anguilla is encouraging couples to elope to the British West Indies island.
The Anguilla Tourist Board is luring couples with the offer of a free wedding ceremony and wedding night at one of the island’s Charming Escapes Collection properties, if they sign up for the four-night Wedding Off the Rocks package.
The offer comes with a bonus: a serving of goat water, a signature island broth long linked with virility. The elopement packages are available through March 31.
Moms, dads and other guests can come along to witness the civil ceremony and celebrate with complimentary champagne and wedding cake by booking the same package. Accommodations and amenities vary based on the property.
• Paradise Cove: $1,080, including service charges and taxes.
• Sirena Resort: $660, excluding taxes and service charges.
• Carimar Beach Club: $1,160, including taxes and service charges.
• Arawak Beach Inn: starting at $700, excluding taxes and service charges.
All rates are based on double occupancy.
The Charming Escapes Collection is a group of 14 intimate hotels, villas and inns offering travelers an affordable way to experience Anguilla, according to the tourist board.
