Well, alright, I think to myself. I'll probably just walk around
lost all day. It won't be the first time.
A few years back, at London's World Travel Market, Alan
Fredericks and I did just that.
I think we were looking for the company booth, or the press room
of our sister publication, Travel Weekly U.K. Or, we might have
been looking for the coat room, I can't recall.
What I do recall is that we walked the trade show floor for
hours. We made little headway because about every few feet someone
who knew Alan would stop us and, of course, we'd stop to chat.
In some cases, we met people who Alan had not seen in many
It was then I fully realized that Alan, aside from being Travel
Weekly's vice president of editorial and long-time editor in chief
of the publication, is an industry celebrity.
He is not going to ITB this year. I'm hoping to find the press
room by myself.
