*logoThe Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons brands have been long been revered for their service culture. Both have been the subject of business management books, and properties flying their flags consistently top the multitude of awards and lists for best hotels.

And while few would argue those reputations and accolades are anything but well deserved, people wondering how to do luxury right might be well advised to also take a look at the Colorado’s historic Broadmoor.

The majestic property in the Rocky Mountain foothills has for won AAA’s Five Diamond Award for Excellence for the 38th consecutive year, making it the only hotel to receive the coveted designation every year since its inception in 1976.JeriClausing

The independent property’s president and CEO, Steve Bartolin, credits the staff’s passion and dedication. “This distinction is a testament of our hotel’s impeccable service and commitment to excellence,” he said in a statement.

Pressed for more insight into what makes the property unique in holding the award year after year, a hotel spokeswoman reiterated: it’s about the people.

“As Mr. Bartolin says, it is not just about our wonderful property, but it is the people who make up our Broadmoor family," she said. "They are the ones who have earned this year after year. We take great pride in what we do; being recognized by the AAA Five Diamond Award again is the recognition that motivates us to go above and beyond in guest service and satisfaction.”

The property  itself is also pretty unique. Situated just west of Colorado Springs on the way to Colorado’s famed Pike’s Peak, the 3,000-acre resort has nearly 800 rooms and suites; three championship golf courses; a tennis program; spa and fitness center; 26 retail boutiques; and 19 restaurants, cafes and lounges -- including Colorado’s only AAA Five Diamond restaurant, Penrose Room.

In all, AAA says 124 hotels in North America qualified for its Five Diamond Rating.

Five hotels received the rating for the first time: Chateau du Sureau in Oakhurst, Calif.; Wynn Tower Suites in Las Vegas; Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah; the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto; Banyan Tree Cabo Marques in Acapulco; and Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun in Playa del Carmen. A number of Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons properties also maintained their top rankings.
