As spring begins to permeate your senses like the aroma of freshly
brewed coffee, banishing the winter blahs and making life seem
almost possible again, the idea of traveling just for the sheer fun
of it may sort of creep up on you.
Don't give in. Life is about hard work. Sensible folk should
work and worry non-stop from the day before their SATs to the
moment they meet St. Peter.
But if you do succumb, do so wisely, whole-hoggedly, as it were.
That's right, I'm talking about the annual Barbed Wire Swap &
Sell Convention coming up this weekend in La Crosse, Kansas.
According to a spokeswoman for the Barbed Wire Museum, also
located in La Crosse, barbed wire collectors the world over gather
to swap wire stories, and wire, at the event. Some make the trip
just to gaze at the museum's 900 barbed wire samples.
Why, you wonder? "Some people just like barbed wire, I guess,"
the spokeswoman said.
So if you just can't stay home this weekend, head for La Crosse
and get wired. You know it's time you did.
