Happy accidents

Mike Spinelli, in his final address as ASTA president, said, "It's like wetting your pants on a cold day. You get a warm feeling, but it doesn't last." I don't remember what he was making the analogy about, but I think this is one quote that works well out of context.

Rono Dutta, United's senior vice president of planning, said that in order to demonstrate to investors the airline industry's resilience, it "needs to go through another recession to prove we can." Admirable bravado, Mr. Dutta, but those of us outside the airline industry would prefer it if you wouldn't wish a recession upon us.

Agents soon will be able to remit purchases of Universal Studios and, later, Disney attraction tickets through ARC. This should simplify things for agents, but could there be any unpleasant side effects created by this arrangement -- like, say, Disney debit memos?
