Resorts, cruise lines and travel companies hoping to entice recession-weary travelers to Mexico have rolled out incentives like free hotel nights, two-for-one deals and free airfare for travel south of the border.
In Loreto, for example, restaurants, hotels and other travel suppliers are offering two-for-one incentives through Jan. 31.
Meanwhile, the Tides Riviera Maya, www.tidesrivieramaya.com, and Tides Zihuatanejo, www.tideszihuatanejo.com, are offering to reimburse customers' airfare up to $1,500 per person, based on the cost of the airline ticket and the room.
The minimum airfare credit is $500 based on Royal Villa rooms at the Tides Riviera Maya and Lagoon Suites at the Tides Zihuatanejo.
To qualify, a four-night stay is required at either resort, and bookings must be made by April 30 for stays through Dec. 18.
The credit will be deducted from the total bill at checkout when guests present their airline ticket.
Pleasant Holidays rolled out a Hot Deals promotion to Mexico that includes such things as a free Hertz car rental for a week plus a 10% discount on the first activity when customers stay in Cancun or the Riviera Maya.
Pleasant is enabling customers to combine Hot Deals incentives with other company initiatives, including one that offers up to $500 off stays at Palace Resorts in Mexico.
