Stuart Cohen, a longtime travel industry professional and motivational speaker, is broadcasting a weekly online radio show that features interviews with industry leaders, many discussing issues of interest to home-based travel agents.
The shows are broadcast live on Wednesday afternoons at www.stuartcohenshow.com (check the site for exact times) and are archived so that they can be accessed at any time, including downloaded on iPods or other portable devices.
Cohen, who launched the Network of Entrepreneurs Selling Travel, Travelsavers’ home-based agency program, is a former Vacation.com vice president and cruise line district sales manager.
In an interview with Travel Weekly, Cohen said that his show is designed “so simply that it doesn’t require any downloads or special equipment. Anyone can listen at any time. The media player is built in the Web page, and the streaming comes from the website.”
The show is akin to a radio show and not to be confused with a podcast, he said. “A podcast is prerecorded and then loaded. This acts as a radio station in the sense that it’s live and people can call in and interact with my guests.”
Some shows are designed to appeal to owners and managers, others to frontline agents and home-based agents, he said. Some feature prize giveaways. Guests have included Andy Stuart, executive vice president of global sales and passenger service for Norwegian Cruise Line; Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales and trade support for Royal Caribbean International; and Art Jimenez, senior director of leisure sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The June 15 show focuses on protecting one's brand and trademark essentials. On June 22, executives from the Ensemble Travel Group are scheduled to talk with Cohen about recent changes at the agency network.
